2007 Miss America Pageant crowns Miss Oklahoma Lauren Nelson winner. Monday night at Aladdin Las Vegas hotel, or currently named Planet Hollywood Las Vegas, Nelson received her crowning tiara from 2006 Miss America Jennifer Berry, also from Oklahoma.

Lauren is the daughter of Mark and Sherrell Nelson. She has one sister Morgan, 16, and one brother, Logan, 15. She is an advocate for protecting children from online predators and partnered with NetSmartz, a nonprofit Internet organization.

2007 Miss America Pageant showcases contestants at the Aladdin Las Vegas hotel tonight starting at 5 pm. The pageant will air in Las Vegas real estate from 8 to 10 pm on CMT. Miss America tickets are $95.24 from Ticketmaster. The pageant is at the Aladdin hotel for a second year.

The pageant began in 1921 as an Atlantic City, NJ businessman’s hopes to extend the summer tourist season.

Nevada has never had a Miss America. Miss Nevada is excited to become the next Miss America.

Las Vegas is the site of the Miss America Pageant for the second year in a row. The telecast will be Jan. 29 from the Aladdin Theatre.

This year’s contest comes at a bizarre time in the pageant world. In December, Miss USA Tara Conner in December came close to losing her crown for allegedly partying too much, while Miss Nevada USA Katie Rees lost her crown a short time after internet photos surfaced.
