Summerlin’s Earthfaire is Las Vegas, NV fifth consecutive largest Earth Day. The free public event will be held April 19 from 10 – 4pm at Summerlin Centre Community Park on Town Center Drive.

For the fifth consecutive year, Summerlin will host the Las Vegas Valley’s biggest celebration of Earth Day in Southern Nevada, at Summerlin Earthfaire.

Participating organizations will provide information about their respective groups as well as tips on energy savings, interactive environmental education and recycling.

This year’s Summerlin Earthfaire festival is bigger and has become more popular than ever. More than 50 environmental exhibitors including support from Cox Communications, KTNV TV-13, The News, Boston Cleaners, Republic Services, Shark Reef at Mandalay Bay, Mix 94.1 radio station and sponsored by Summerlin.

General Growth unveils Summerlin Centre Plans

General Growth Properties unveiled detailed plans for its long anticipated 100-acre Summerlin Centre Las Vegas development at northeast corner of the 215 Beltway and Sahara Avenue. The mixed-use real estate complex calls for a combination of retail shops, dining, office space and residences within a landscaped master-planned setting.

The Summerlin Centre development will feature a grand plaza called Summerlin Square that will host public events, concerts, and other community events. A north-south pedestrian street, or paseo, will run throughout the property.

Many of the shops and restaurants will be located on the first floor of low-rise buildings stretched along the paseo. An east-west street grid and “marketwalk,” intersecting the paseo at Summerlin Square, will create easy vehicle and pedestrian access.

An adjoining northern 300 acres, which includes the new 414-room Red Rock Station Casino Las Vegas Resort and Spa, will consist of 5,500 residences in a wide array of housing styles from single-family Las Vegas homes to condominiums in buildings with street-level retail stores and restaurants. About 10 percent of the Red Rock real estate will be part of the real estate development surrounding Summerlin Square.

The eastern portion, meanwhile, will contain about 1.5 million square feet of office and commercial space, including the six-story Business Bank of Nevada headquarters, which is now underway. Two five-story, Class A office buildings with street-level retail space will be built in the initial phase, totaling 250,000 square feet. More office space could be added later.

Summerlin Nevada Earth Day 2006

Earth Day was founded by Senator Gaylord Nelson of Wisconsin. He was disturbed that an issue as important as our environment was not addressed in politics or by the media, so he created the first Earth Day, on April 22, 1970. An estimated 20 million people nationwide attended festivities that day including residents of Summerlin Nevada Las Vegas.

Summerlin Nevada Real Estate Celebrations in Nevada for Earth Day 2006:
Saturday, April 22, Summerlin Earth Faire featured displays and exhibits, interactive areas entertain kids with environmental “experiments” and art projects, and animals from the local shelter. This is close to the newly opened Red Rock Station Casino.

Saturday, April 22, Spring Mountain Ranch State Park in Las Vegas celebrated Earth Day with activities. There was tree planting and pruning demonstrations, and talks about the desert tortoise, lizards and snakes.

Sunday, April 23, from 10am-5pm: Reno’s Idlewild Park will host festivities including live entertainment, children’s activities, a farmer’s market, and free cell phone and car battery recycling.
