UFC 77 HOSTILE TERRITORYAnderson Silva is 2nd round winner over Rich Franklin. The UFC Middleweight Champion stopped the attack in the Octagon for a second time from the mixed martial arts fighter Rich Franklin from his hometown Cincinnati at the full house U.S. Bank Arena October 20, 2007.
During UFC 64 in October 2006, Silva stopped Franklin during the first round.
Franklin entered the Octagon very confident to the music “Welcome to the Jungle”. The fans were so excited to see him that they let out a roar and gave him the confidence to see the champion enter. The opening song for Silva was “Ain’t no sunshine” by DMX. The reception for Silva wasn’t spectacular as the crowd booed.
UFC 72 VICTORY Ultimate Fighting Championship Rich Franklin is unanimous decision winner over Yushin Okami in Belfast, June 16, 2007.
Both men fight in the Octagon at UFC 72 and are favoring their left hands. They seem to be looking for position and angling right after the fight starts. They brought the fight to the fence and the referee had to break them up. The mixed martial arts fight hasn’t been so spectacular so far with neither Franklin or Okami showing much of a performance. Franklin looks like the favorite in round one.

UFC 64 Ultimate Fighting ChampionshipAnderson Silva wins with TKO over Rich Franklin in first round at 3:59. Many thought if Silva’s blowout of Chris Leben in June during the fight was not to be repeated. Silva used a Muay Thai brutal clinch to dominate Franklin on the inside and stun the crowd to UFC 64 at the Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas real estate by scoring a first round TKO to win the UFC middleweight crown.
Silva was overcome with emotion after taking out Franklin. Silva feels that the UFC is where he is meant to fight. He wanted to make
his third successful UFC title defense in his first fight back after an injury had delayed his fighting for seven months.
By the second minute of the first round, both fighters started opening up a bit more, with Silva securing a tight Thai clinch that produced a series of solid knees to the head and body, one of which jarred the champ. Franklin waded right back into battle, but as he returned, Silva locked his hands around Franklin’s neck, and this time a huge right knee left Franklin stunned and open for a brutal follow-up that included a final left knee and two more kicks that sent Franklin to the canvas, where referee John McCarthy halted the bout at the 3:59 mark.
