Summerlin’s Earthfaire is Las Vegas, NV fifth consecutive largest Earth Day. The free public event will be held April 19 from 10 – 4pm at Summerlin Centre Community Park on Town Center Drive.

For the fifth consecutive year, Summerlin will host the Las Vegas Valley’s biggest celebration of Earth Day in Southern Nevada, at Summerlin Earthfaire.

Participating organizations will provide information about their respective groups as well as tips on energy savings, interactive environmental education and recycling.

This year’s Summerlin Earthfaire festival is bigger and has become more popular than ever. More than 50 environmental exhibitors including support from Cox Communications, KTNV TV-13, The News, Boston Cleaners, Republic Services, Shark Reef at Mandalay Bay, Mix 94.1 radio station and sponsored by Summerlin.

Summerlin Arts Festival 2007 along with La Strada dell’Arte and Celebration of the Arts will start a weekend long arts event at Summerlin Centre Community Park from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on September 29 – 30.

More than 120 amateur and professional artists will paint the sidewalks this weekend and sell their artwork.

The outdoor arts festival will be free to attendees and include entertainers including the Academy of Nevada Ballet Theatre at 11 a.m., noon and 1 p.m. both days.

Summerlin Las Vegas master planned community uses public sculpture for aesthetic and cultural beauty that Summerlin real estate has represented. Summerlin is also known for its trail system, Las Vegas golf course, parks and tree lined streets. Archie Held, A southern California artist, has on display a 15 foot bronze sculpture at the Howard Hughes Plaza first office building. To celebrate the new corporate headquarters of The Howard Hughes Corp. had this “Unity” sculpture installed in 2001.

Sarah Winnemucca, a Northern Paiute, is the artist for two pieces of public at at The Hills Center Business Park. These pieces include a three foot bronze sculpture. National Statuary Hall in the US Capital has the original commissioned sculpture by artist Benjamin Victor to represent Nevada.

Summerlin land is the topic of a bill introduced by Nevada lawmakers this week asking for 80 acres of federal land in Summerlin real estate for medical officer, park, and a cancer treatment and research center.

This bill is sponsored by Sen. John Ensign, Rep. Shelley Berkley, and co-sponsored by three other Nevada members of Congress. They are asking for more space so cancer patients can get their needed treatments.

The intersction of Hualapai Way and Alta Drive, under this bill, would be moved to the city of Las Vegas for smaller parcels made in a Nevada Cancer Institute satellite campus.

Las Vegas would like to transfer 24.4 acres Summerlin real estate controlled by the Bureau of Land Management located at Town Center Road and I 215.
