Jerry Yang was knocked out today of the World Series of Poker 2008. This event is the richest poker tournament ever at $180.7 million. In the days of the nationwide credit crunch the poker series has had an increase of $20.8 from 2007. You have to love Las Vegas!
Not only has the owner of the poker series, Harrah’s Entertainment, set a record with 58,720 entries, but plans to be bigger an better at 2009 WSOP.

World Series of Poker 2008 season starts Friday and Jerry Yang defends his 2007 title as the $10,000 World Championship No Limit Texas Hold ‘Em winner. Last year, Yang, from Temecula, CA turned his hobby into a $8.25 million dollar passion.
This year’s WSOP will span six weeks and include 55 events at the Rio Las Vegas hotel. More than 100,000 spectators will view the free events and 30,000 poker players from novice to pros will step up to the challenge this year.

World Series of Poker champion Jerry Yang won the $8.25 million championship this week in Las Vegas, Nevada. Wednesday, Yang won over 6,358 poker players over 11 days at the Rio Casino. The final table of players of eight started Tuesday and finally ended 16 hours later. Yang started out strong and had the chip lead within two hours of play never letting go of his stronghold.
Can you believe Yang’s total investment was only $225 for the World Series of Poker in Las Vegas, Nevada real estate? That’s what this 39 year old Laotian immigrant from Temecula, California did for his entry into this competition. He learned his skills from inside the American Indian casinos in Southern, CA.

Bodog.com sponsored Jamie Gold wins World Series Of Poker 2006. Gold has won the largest and richest game in poker history, the Main Event of the 2006 World Series of Poker. Gold was unprecedented in his dominance of the field as chip leader for an incredible four days of the WSOP tournament.
Gold, a former Hollywood agent turned television producer from Malibu, Calif., amassed a commanding chip lead during the first eight days of the WSOP tournament and sat down at the final table with a whopping $26,650,000 in chips — $8.88 million more than his nearest competitor.
Gold, who had held the lead in the World Series of Poker tournament since last Friday, won the first pot of the day and knocked out Dan Nassif shortly thereafter, setting the stage for a dominating performance to close the two-week event. After an exciting 14 hours of play, he knocked out the rest of the field, including top poker pro Allen Cunningham.
Gold’s $10,000 entry into the World Series of Poker Main Event was provided by Bodog.com, the online gaming giant and leading digital entertainment brand. Today, he competed against the eight players who remained from a field of 8,773 for an unprecedented first-place prize of $12 million and the coveted gold championship bracelet.
After winning poker’s largest ever tournament and its prestigious
WSOP bracelet, an elated Gold said, “I can’t believe it, I am very happy. It started off tough, but once I felt in control, I realized that if I continued to play my game, I would be very hard to beat.” He added, “This wouldn’t have been possible without the support of my friends and family along with the members of Team Bodog.”
Gold’s two-year endorsement deal with Bodog sports book not only includes the standard tournament buy-ins and promotional appearances, but also a $1-million television production deal. The deal also includes a Jamie Gold table on www Bodog com, where Gold will play frequently, enabling other Bodog sports book players to go up against the WSOP champ.

Nearly 9,000 poker players from around the world have descended upon Las Vegas for the 37th Annual World Series of Poker. The W Las Vegas is a fully-furnished luxury hotel condominium residences at the W Las Vegas Hotel, Casino & Residences.
Phil Hellmuth won the 1989 World Series of Poker championship event at only 24 years of age. He’s made the money in more than 100 major tournaments, made more than 80 final tables, and won 18 events. He has won 10 WSOP bracelets. Hellmuth, who won the W Las Vegas Poker Invitational earlier this year, applied his studio condominium grand prize as a down payment on a penthouse suite.
David Williams found fame when he placed second in the 2004 World Series of Poker. This 26 year old has earned more than five million dollars in poker winnings and in four years, has made the money in 17 major tournaments and reached nine final tables. He earned a WSOP bracelet in this year’s tournament.

The World Series of Poker revised Caesars Palace Las Vegas Circuit schedule includes a new $5,000 buy-in event that will test entrants’ expertise in four games - Omaha, hold’em, stud eight or better and stud.
The expanded 14-day schedule begins April 28 and concludes May 11 with the finals of the $10,000 buy-in no-limit hold’em poker championship located at the Caesars Palace Hotel2c Las Vegas. The winner of that event receives prize money and qualifies to play in the 2006 World Series of Poker Tournament of Champions, a freeroll competition in which 27 players will vie for $2 million in prize money.
