KC & The Sunshine Band Bring Back The Oldies In Las Vegas In August

KC & The Sunshine Band bring back the oldies but the goodies in Las Vegas at The Orleans Showroom. The 70’s R&B band will bring back their greatest hits for two days from August 14-15.

The R&B band made their debut in 1973 when bassist Richard Finch and lead singer Harry Wayne “KC” Casey released their quick charting song “Blow Your Whistle.” It soon became Top 15 on the R&B charts.

Two years their self-titled album two years later made the band a household name because of their triple platinum status. Popular songs from this album skyrocketed to No. 1 hits including “Boogie Shoes,” “Get Down Tonight,” “Rock Your Baby” “That’s the Way (I Like It).” This is the first band to make top No. 1 singles in a 12-month period. There was plenty of cross over with three of the singles hitting top of R&B charts, too.

Their popularity continued to increase with their 1976 release, Part 3, which struck triple platinum. Tracks that became No. 1 included “Shake Your Booty,” “I’m Your Boogie Man” and “Keep it Coming.”

KC music has been featured in more than 75 movies. Some of these are Forest Gump, Goldmember, Saturday Night Fever and Rush Hour. A long list of esteemed awards including Best R&B Artist at the American Music Awards and received three Grammy Awards are added to his accolades.
