Currently “Monty Python’s Spamalot” is the playing at the juncture between Wynn Las Vegas and the new property Encore, yet to open. Spamalot’s has an additional three months in its current run. The location will be renamed the Encore Theater.
Gans will replace “Monty Python’s Spamalot,” which will close July 13 at the end of a contract phase. The venue will be renamed the Encore Theater because it’s located at the connecting point between Wynn Las Vegas and the new hotel.
Wynn has always wanted to give Gans as sole performer at one of his properties. He’s worked alongside other entertainers, including “Love,” by Cirque du Soleil, and Siegfried & Roy, at the same properties for eight years.
Wynn Resorts main desire is a one of a kind show performing at their properties. “Spamalot” is a Broadway musical that has toured across the US. “Avenue Q” was the first musical that didn’t have brand recognition. It was difficult to get the needed audience when the musical hadn’t toured.
Gan’s contract initially has a three contract with an option for a longer period. He can add backdrops and sets to his production in the larger proscenium theater.
The final performance by Gans at The Mirage will be November 22. Comedians will continue to headline in The Mirage theater including Howie Mandel, from Deal Or No Deal, Ray Romano and Brad Garrett.
