MagLev Train Received Funding To Travel From Disneyland To Las Vegas

Maglev TrainMagLev train received funding to travel from Disneyland to Las Vegas.  The magnetic levitating train will travel in speeds from 180 mph average to 310 mph.  The news that President Bush signed a transportation bill worth $45 million to continue America’s fastest train initiative happened earlier this month.  This will help shuttle more visitors to Las Vegas and help the Nevada economy.

The company bringing the maglev train to America is American Magline Group.  The initial phase is a small hurdle they needed to make for funding.  After the three years of research, they will need construction funds totaling $12 billion.Current completion dates could be as soon as 2015 from AMG.

The delay in construction is the necessary financing. $45 million from the federal government will be used for pre-construction fees.  America’s fastest train can’t run on the steel tracks or existing railways and will need a completely new infrastructure.

Spiking gas prices and increased travel expenses could have the maglev as an alternative to transportation problems.  The gasoline prices have given the federal government a reason to explore alternative modes of transportation.

The average cost of taking a plane from Disneyland to Vegas is approximately $150.  American Magline Group says their maglev would charge $55 for the same trip.

Several of the most important benefits of the maglev is the energy efficiency and it doesn’t pollute.  The magnets levitate the train and don’t wear on the underlying guide.  The electrical current is the push or pull on the train’s direction.

The world’s first maglev is located in Shanghai, China.  The 19 mile line doesn’t have much traffic now, but line extension plans could produce the traffic to cover the initial investment.  The allure of the Las Vegas maglev could be just what American Magline Group needs to cover the initial costs.
