New Frontier Las Vegas hotel implosion at 2:30 a.m. on November 13, 2007. The space will make way for The Plaza Hotel Las Vegas.
The luxury condo hotel project is expected to cost $6 billion at completion. The mega resort will include a casino and business center. The 1.5 million square foot development is expected to include a 3,500-room ultra-luxury condominiums, hotel, restaurants, convention space and retail shops. Ground break for the project is expected in 2008 and have it completed some time in 2012.
The hotel’s 16 story Atrium Tower was brought down using 1,040 pounds of explosives placed in 6,200 locations throughout the building reducing it to pile of glass, steel and concrete in 18 seconds.
A prelude to the implosion was a five minute spectacular fireworks display, produced by Fireworks by Grucci.
