Olympian Michael Phelps Enters The 2013 World Series of Poker At Rio

Olympic gold medalist Michael Phelps was one of 482 poker pros and card sharks to take a seat in the 2013 World Series of Poker’s (WSOP) No Limit Hold ‘Em/Eight Handed tournament at Rio Las Vegas casino Wednesday, May 29, 2013. The decorated athlete sporting a blue v-neck T-shirt and beard was one of 196 participants to survive and move on to day two of the four-day event.

Phelps was set to begin play at 2 p.m. today where he looks to add a gold bracelet to his gold medal collection. WSOP’s opening weekend will kick off in grand style this Saturday with its “Millionare Maker” event. The winner of the $1,500, one-day No-Limit Hold ‘Em tournament will go home with the grand prize of $1,000,000.
