3rd Annual Locks of Love Cut-a-thon Hosted By Rio Spa & Salon Aug 8

The 3rd annual cut-a-thon to benefit Locks of Love will return to Rio Spa & Salon at the Rio All-Suite Hotel & Casino on Wednesday, Aug. 8 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Generous patrons that choose to donate at least 10-inches of hair will receive a complimentary blunt cut and a 30-percent discount on any additional styling or coloring treatments at the salon.

In addition, an ongoing “Catch of the Day” contest will award a gift basket valued at $250 to the longest hair donation of the day. Complimentary refreshments will be served.

“This is our third year hosting this event and it’s amazing to see such fantastic support from the community,” said Sparkle Drebert, salon manager. “Last year, 12-year-old Hope Marroquin donated the longest ‘Catch of the Day’ at 26 inches, and in total more than 60 ponytails were donated to Locks of Love.”

Guidelines allow permed or color-treated hair; however, bleached and highlighted tresses are not usable. Donors may also bring in ponytails that have been previously cut at other locations. Hair donated to Locks of Love is turned into wigs and hairpieces for children undergoing chemotherapy, suffering from alopecia areata or recuperating from scalp burns.

Rio Spa & Salon can accommodate up to 70 appointments on this day and walk-ins are welcome. For more information or to make an appointment, call 702-777-7779 or visit www.riolasvegas.com. Rio Spa & Salon is open daily from 6 a.m. until 7 p.m.
