Mexican Independence Day Celebration At The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas
Mexican Independence Day celebration at The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas presented its first-ever Mexican Independence Day celebration Sept. 15-17, 2011. The festivities kicked off Thursday, Sept. 15 at 11 p.m. with “Grito Mexicano,†a cry of patriotism performed by Mariachis and accompanied by the ceremonial ringing of the bell event.

Throughout each day, Mariachis performed at various locations including the hotel lobby, The Pool District, and the hotel’s centerpiece bar The Chandelier, which served up special drinks including Sangria Sno-Cones and Mango Margaritas. China Poblano served its entire Mexican menu along with special holiday menu items from the take-out window and Wicked Spoon and The Cosmopolitan Bake Shop set up food carts featuring Mexican themed food.

Supporting this celebratory tribute to Mexican Independence, famous Mexican recording artist and actor Pedro Fernández performed in concert at The Boulevard Pool on Friday, Sept. 16. Guests enjoyed freshly rolled cigars and an Ambhar Tequila tasting poolside during the concert.

A street fair featuring performances by folkloric dancers, temporary tattoo and face painting carts, and candy sculpting took over P2 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Sept. 17. Also on Saturday, EATDRINK held a book signing from noon to 2 p.m. with Food Network star Marcela Valladolid. Valladolid met with fans and offered a sneak peek at her upcoming cookbook out later this month, Mexican Made Easy.
