Miss USA 2008 Crowned Crystle Stewart Of Texas Winner in Las Vegas
Miss USA 2008 crowned Crystle Stewart of Missouri City, Texas, as Miss USA in Las Vegas. Friday night at Planet Hollywood Hotel the crown was transferred from Miss USA 2007 Rachel Smith.
Crystle Stewart won the coveted crown over 50 other beauty queens. Our own Veronica Grabowski, Miss Nevada USA 2008, competed in the competition. In addition to receiving the crown Stewart received a luxury New York condo.
Contestants are scored in three categories, interview, swimsuit and evening gown. Miss Alaska USA, Courtney Erin Carroll, was chosen “Miss Photogenic USA” based on web voting. The other contestants named Monica Day, Miss Ohio USA, “Miss Congeniality.”
The beauty pageant scored Leah Laviano of Mississippi as first runner up and Tiffany Andrade of New Jersey.
The 26 year old entrepreneur runs a motivational speaking and party planning company, in addition to being a professional model. Her life long passion is international philanthropy.
Both Donny and Marie Osmond were the hosts of the NBC show that aired live from Planet Hollywood Las Vegas resort. Donald Trump and NBC co own the parent Miss Universe.
This is the 57th annual Miss USA pageant. Contestants were in Las Vegas, Nevada almost 21 days for promotion from all 50 states and the District of Columbia.
Stewart’s next gig is the Miss Universe pageant in three months in Vietnam. She has become a spokeswoman for ovarian and breast cancer awareness.
Friday’s beauty pageant panel of judges included Christian Siriano, winner of fashion reality series, “Project Runway;” Heather Mills, model and former wife of Paul McCartney; Olympic gold-medal swimmer Amanda Beard; and comedian Rob Schneider.
