Norwegian Cruise Line Recognized With 8 'Best In The Industry' Awards

Norwegian Cruise Line has been recognized with three gold and five silver 2011 Travel Weekly Magellan Awards in the Cruise Marketing category for its original campaigns and marketing initiatives. Travel Weekly, an influential news resource in the travel industry, will feature Norwegian in this week’s issue which will include a special section devoted to the most exciting and innovative work being done in the industry today.

Norwegian’s “Partners First” corporate philosophy of putting its travel partners first has been recognized with two awards. In the print advertising category, Norwegian received a gold Magellan for its ad campaign launched in various trade publications that made travel partners the central focus of the ads showcasing their personal stories and testimonials.

In addition, a silver award was given to the line for its 2011-2013 fleet brochure featuring its popular destinations and 11 Freestyle Cruising ships. In the website category, the accolade for leading cruise marketing website was awarded to the company’s Marketing Headquarters portal found at www.partnersfirst.ncl.com , which provides travel partners with customizable resources including destination specific toolkits complete with flyers, emails, banner ads and social media messaging.

In the Advertising/Marketing Campaign category, Norwegian received two gold and three silver Magellans for a variety of marketing activities including its Europe’s Leading Cruise Line campaign; a comprehensive direct mail piece on the line’s signature Freestyle Cruising, “Your Freestyle Cruising Guide;” and for launching several new tools to support meetings, incentive groups and corporate events (MICE) planners in exploring and booking groups and full ship charters.

Norwegian also received a gold Magellan for its first-ever PURL (personalized URL) microsite, which provides guests with an engaging and informative cruise planning experience by choosing a specific cruise destination with content that populates fun facts, ship information, shore excursions and an option to share the site with friends.

The Travel Weekly Magellan Awards are designed to honor the best in the travel industry, recognizing a broad range of segments including hotels and resorts, travel destinations, cruise lines, online travel, airlines and airports, travel agents and agencies and car rental companies. This year’s judging panel comprised top travel industry professionals such as Peter Greenberg, travel editor; Bob Dickinson, former CEO of Carnival Cruise Lines; Patricia Schultz, author of 1,000 Places to See Before You Die; Rudy Maxa, PBS Host of Rudy Maxa’s World; Lalia Rach, associate dean and HVS International Chair for New York University; and popular travel blogger, Johnny Jet.
