PGA Golf returns to Las Vegas PGA Golf Tour event at TPC Summerlin and TPC at the Canyons Las Vegas. Questions about the future of the Las Vegas PGA Tour event, currently the only major professional golf tour stop in Southern Nevada, have dogged the PGA tour tournament for almost all of this millennium.

The PGA golf event has gone through sponsors at a near-record pace, and speculation that it would leave Las Vegas has never been far from the surface.

The Frys.com Open, PGA golf tour, scheduled for Oct. 12 to 15 at Las Vegas golf course TPC Summerlin Las Vegas and Las Vegas golf course TPC at the Canyons Las Vegas, will be part of the PGA Tour’s “Fall Finish” next year.

 

The PGA golf tour is restructuring its schedule and no longer will make the Tour Championship the season-ending event. Instead, it will be played in September as the culmination of what the tour hopes will be viewed as a playoff season. 

The event’s main sponsors the last two years were tire manufacturer Michelin and a Northern California family. Before that, the Las Vegas Founders Club itself ran the tourney for a year, following sponsorships by Invensys and the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority.

“Getting Fry’s done and on board for PGA Golf Tour 2007 gives us some stability and we don’t have to scramble around trying to find a sponsor,” Duddlesten said. “The sponsor issue has impacted our ability to make significant charitable contributions like we’d like and like we have historically done.
