UFC 81 BREAKING POINT Frank Mir is winner over Brock Lesnar by knee bar submission in 90 seconds. Ultimate Fighting Championship 81 pay per view event also had Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira winner over Tim Sylvia by guillotine submission in the third round.
The mixed martial arts excitement and fun in the Octagon took place in front of a packed house on February 2, 2008 at the Mandalay Bay Events Center Las Vegas, Nevada real estate.
Brock Lesnar vs. Frank Mir
Within five seconds Brock Lesnar had a takedown. Lesnar started pounding and connecting with elbows and hard punches in half guard. He hit Frank Mir in the back of the head. The referee stopped the fight and deducted a point for an illegal hit. When the fight started Lesnar connected a right and Mir took a tumble. Coming on strong Lesnar kept hammering his opponent. Mir turned the fight around and took Lesnar’s leg and went for a knee bar. Lesnar couldn’t break free and tapped out only 90 seconds after the round started.
Not many thought this former WWE fighter would go down in such a quick and expeditious manner. The former NFL hopeful, former pro wrestler, former amateur wrestler and now UFC fighter hoped for a different result.

Tim Sylvia vs Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira
Sylvia landed a hard right early in the round. Nogueira, within 60 seconds, pulled guard but Sylvia escaped and brought the two back on their feed. He landed a left, and Nogueira fought back with a right. Sylvia connected with a left hook and his opponent fell to the mat in the Octagon. The two fought each other and Sylvia stood back up, but not for long. Sylvia was able to step away. Antonio finished the round with a takedown.
The second round started with another takedown by Antonio. To Sylvia’s advantage is his reach. Nogueira is taking a lot of punching to his face. He takes the fight against the cage. Close to a minute later he wasn’t in a better position. To finish the round Sylvia landed a right hook.
Finally, the third round had Nogueira using his takedown skills, then he pulled guard. Sylvia tried to escape, but a sweep into side control by Nogueira. A bit of a scuffle and he got the guillotine with the end of the match.

After this fight Nogueira is the first man to hold both the PRIDE and UFC heavyweight titles. Within the PRIDE organization, he along with Fedor Emelianenko, held the pride belt. Last year PRIDE Fighting was purchased by Ultimate Fighting Championship.
