Picasso PaintingGuggenheim Hermitage Museum closes its doors today at the Venetian Las Vegas, NV hotel. Closing after seven years of showcasing world class artists from the 1870s through the 20th century’s first several decades. For almost a year an exhibition of 37 masterpieces, the Modern Master Guggenheim Collection from New York’s Guggenheim Museum, has been on exhibit.

Some of the artists displayed at the Guggenheim Hermitage Museum included most notably van Gogh, Cezanne, Picasso, Chagall and Monet in an incredible showcase of Cubism, Surrealism, Expressionism, Impressionism and Post-Impressionism.

Through the Clark County School district over 26,000 school children had the chance to experience the visual arts and visit the exhibits.

Vincent van Gogh, started his artistic career when he was 27. He was a missionary worker and a teacher. During his prolific career, he produced more than 2,000 works, about 900 paintings, and a thousand drawing and sketches. During the last few years of his life he became mentally ill and cut off part of his ear. Van Gogh ended his life with suicide.

Paul Cezanne, Post-Impressionist credited with bridging late-19th-century Impressionism and early-20th-century Cubism, prompting Matisse and Picasso to cite Cezanne as “the father of us all.” Considered Cezanne’s largest masterpiece, Rideau Cruchon et Compotier, sold at auction for $60.5 million.

Pablo Picasso was the co founder of the Cubist movement for his extreme art flair. He had world acclaim for both his sculpture and iconic paintings.

Marc Chagall, dabbled in the avant-garde, used vivid colors to portray many biblical scenes. Chagall created The White Crucifixion, seen by some as a condemnation of Stalinism and Nazism.

Founder of French impressionist art, Claude Monet, created a painting called Impression. Monet painted a series of tributes to fallen French soldiers of WWI. Paintings consisted of weeping willow trees, seascapes and landscapes of the French countryside.

The museum’s director says Las Vegas has evolved and changed from seven years ago. Visitors to the museum at the Venetian were excited about seeing worldwide exhibits from the great masters.
