Las Vegas PGA Tour Continues For Another Five Years At TPC Summerlin

PGA Golf TourLas Vegas PGA Tour continues for another five years at TPC Summerlin and TPC at the Canyons Las Vegas golf course.

The Shriners Hospital for Children, sponsors the Frys.com Open, has donated an undisclosed amount of funds to continue the golf tour in Las Vegas, Nevada real estate. The Frys.com Open has been played in Vegas since 1983.

This year’s Las Vegas golf tournament will have a purse of $4 million and played at TPC at The Canyons and TPC Summerlin Las Vegas. The tournament will be held October 11 – 14, 2007. This is the last year for Fry’s Electronics’ sponsorship.

Defending champ Troy Matteson and five former Las Vegas champions will be participating this year. Other participants will include Lucas Glover John Daly, Davis Love III, Charles Howell III, Chris DiMarco, Jesper Parnevik and Lee Janzen. Phil Mickelson and Tiger Woods will not be in attendance.

Many Las Vegans will be playing with former UNLV stars Charley Hoffman and Chris Riley including Southern Nevada residents Alex Cejka, Bob May, Dean Wilson and Craig Barlow. There has yet to be a commitment from three time winner Jim Furyk

To appeal to a larger audience the organizers are planning a party in “The Hill,” a 22,000 square foot entertainment pavilion in TPC Summerlin real estate. An additional fee of $10 will gain admission to “The Hill.” Daily general admission will be just $5.

Fans can enjoy views of three finishing holes including 16, 17 and the 18th.

Several promotions for Las Vegas golf fans will include on October 13 a Military Appreciation Day and on Oct. 14, a fan will win a Ferrari sports car if a hole in one is sunk at hole number 17.

The Shriners have contributed $11 million in Las Vegas to help 2,500 children even though there isn’t a Las Vegas Shriners Hospital.
