UFC 71: LIDDELL VS JACKSON has Quinton “Rampage†Jackson new winner by TKO. UFC 71 main event mixed martial arts upset. Chuck Liddell and Quinton Jackson. One of the most exciting events of the evening at the MGM Grand Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada real estate.
The MGM Grand Las Vegas arena darkened and the crowd roared. There was some strong action in the UFC undercard, but they’ve been waiting for this one. Jackson is definitely enjoying his time in the spotlight, walking calculated down the aisle and howling twice.
Chuck Liddell is a rock star not a fighter. Chuck had a small smile break over his face when the crowd responded to him coming through the curtains to DMX’s “It’s Dark and Hell is Hot.” An explosive cheer when he entered the octagon. How much would you pay to have a crowd react to you like that? Wonder if Oscar De La Hoya and Floyd Mayweather had such a response.
Round one: Jackson is pressing the action early while Liddell backpedals. Jackson holds his arms out, angered at the Chuck’s hesitance. Both land in the first exchange. Rampage lands a short right on the button and Chuck goes down quickly. The fight stops quickly. Rampage had a couple bombs before referee McCarthy stopped it. Of course Chuck Liddell protested the stoppage but he was clearly not defending the title.
