Bobby Flay Celebrates Chinese New Year At Caesars Palace Las Vegas
Chef Bobby Flay celebrates Chinese New Year at Caesars Palace Las Vegas hotel as he paints the eyes on the lion to begin the Chinese New Year celebrations on Sunday, February 6, 2011. The lunar year festivities honoring the Year of the Rabbit continued with a symbolic lion dance performance and parade throughout the Las Vegas resort.
Bobby Flay, owner and executive chef of Mesa Grill Restaurant inside Caesars Palace painted the eyes on the lion and started the Chinese New Year celebrations. Firecrackers were also lit to ward off evil spirits as a lion dance parades through the resort.
Ancient tradition states the spirit of the Lion must be awakened through the Hoi Gong ceremony where the eyes are painted or dotted.
Caesars Palace will showcase beautiful decor of traditional red and gold decorations featuring red tulips, red azaleas, red and gold lanterns, cherry blossoms, and golden statues of the symbols of the Chinese lunar zodiac are displayed.
