The Venetian Las Vegas Hotel Casino brings out its inner Irish by turning the Grand Canal inside The Grand Canal Shoppes green in celebration of St. Patrick’s Day.

Streetmosphere performers and leprechaun were located at St. Mark’s Square dock area.  The Duchess, VA’s and musicians surrounded the dock.

Gondoliers performed march and stopped on the Mikimoto bridge.  Gondoliers went to each of their own gondolas and loaded at St. Mark’s Square Dock.  The VA’s, Duchess and musicians walked onto the Mikimoto Bridge while singing and entertaining the visitors for the loading of the gondolas.

Liam the Leprechaun started The Venetian Resort St. Patrick’s Day celebration with an inaugural gondola ride leading a parade of gondoliers adorned in green ribbons, sashes, shamrocks and scarves.

Renaissance characters and leprechaun were then loaded into gondolas for their water parade.  Liam was located in the white wedding gondola.  As the Parade of the Gondolas began, The Duchess of Venice sang an Italian song entertaining the crowd.

In addition to the traditional Italian songs, gondoliers sang Irish favorites such as “My Wild Irish Rose,” “Up Among the Heather” and “When Irish Eyes are Smiling.”

The white gondola that Liam the Leprechaun in located spun in the center of the gondola circle as he threw magic gold confetti officially signifying the opening of the lucky green canal for riders.  The vocalists and gondoliers sang “Tipperary.”

The Duchess and leprechaun meet on the Mikimoto bridge and the Duchess presents the key to Venice to the leprechaun.  Directly after the key presentation, the vocalists, musicians and gondoliers perform “Funiculi, Funicula” to celebrate!  Surrounding gondoliers made their way to the bridge and sing along.

After the song, Liam pranced through The Grand Canal Shoppes and gave away gold coins to lucky guests!
