The activities center will be about a half a mile from Independence Center and Anthem Center, the first two facilities in the southern portion of Sun City Anthem.
The age qualified community will incorporate new amenities in an environmentally friendly design.
The construction could be completed in July 2008 with scheduled construction to begin in September.
Because Sun City Anthem measures more than three square miles, this third center will bring the much desired amenities including indoor and outdoor swimming pools, fitness centers, closer to the new areas.
The recreation center will blend with the surrounding environment by having a very innovative geometrical design with peaks and valleys.
Sun City Anthem Las Vegas first center, Anthem Center, offers a fitness and wellness center, computer lab, business center, indoor walking track, indoor and outdoor swimming pools, areas for games and card players, Trumpets restaurant, library, 70,000 square feet, ballroom and conference rooms.
It offers views of the Las Vegas Valley and is along the community’s two Las Vegas golf courses.
Nearby Independence Center features more than 30,000 square feet rooms for specialized activities and workshops.
The third facility will bring a mix of familiar and new amenities to Sun City Anthem, including tennis, bocce, and pickle ball courts, sun deck, barbecue area, dog park, kitchen area and locker rooms.
It will also include a second room and an expanded multi-purpose room.
The building is being built to qualify for Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design LEED certification.
LEED is a national standard for construction established by the U.S. Green Building Council.
The new activities center will be one of a handful of buildings in the Las Vegas Valley targeting this environmentally friendly standard.
