CityCenter Las Vegas Condos Canceled And One Year Construction Delay

Project CityCenter HotelsProject CityCenter Harmon Las Vegas condos have been canceled along with a one year construction delay.  Structural integrity construction issues have forced the Harmon residential component of 200 units to be canceled from the $9.2 billion resort and delay the opening of the luxury Harmon Hotel.

Update 1/5/09: Project CityCenter Jobs are now available.

The delay of Harmon Hotel will give the opening a setback of an additional year to the last quarter of 2010.  This will save MGM Mirage nearly $200 million.  Due to contractor construction errors a huge redesign would have been necessary to The Harmon or a more financial sound plan was to save $600 million from the canceled project.

Project CityCenter real estate buyers for The Harmon condos can still purchase available units at Mandarin Oriental, Vdara and Veer.  88 units were under a sales contract and now are entitled to a refund of their earnest money.  Approximately 1,000 remaining high rise condos are available for purchase in the entire resort of 2,450 units.

The shorter design of the building will now stand 26 stories, 21 stories cut short from previous plans.  The Harmon at completion will offer 400 luxury hotel rooms by the Light Group, which operates 10 restaurants and nightclubs on the Las Vegas Strip.

Perini Construction Co. will finish the Harmon tower to 26 levels and exterior.  Because the resort will open a year before the high rise hotel is completed the building will be lighted to look like it is finished.
