Echelon Place Las Vegas Will Not Be Home To A Broadway Musical

Friday, September 15th, 2006

Echelon Place Las VegasEchelon Place Las Vegas real estate mega resort by Boyd Gaming isn’t going to be home to a broadway musical. According to an executive for Boyd partner Anschutz Entertainment Group, the Strip and the Great White Way simply do not meet.

“We’re not fans of the Broadway phase,” said John Meglen, co-CEO of AEG Live Tours & Special Events. “I’ve never believed that people come to Las Vegas to see Broadway. They go to New York for a broadway musical. That was proven in Las Vegas with the family shows. People don’t come to Vegas for family entertainment. They go to Orlando or Orange County,” Meglen said. Las Vegas Monorail Expanding From Airport To Convention Centers

Sunday, September 3rd, 2006

Las Vegas MonorailThe Las Vegas Monorail expansion would include the Sands Expo Las Vegas, linking all four major Las Vegas convention centers.

Las Vegas Monorail system expansion plans are in the works to help relieve traffic congestion along the Las Vegas resort corridor, including a hookup with the airport down Swenson Street and new stations that will link all four of the Strip’s major convention centers for the first time.

The Las Vegas Monorail’s plans, which are still being worked on, include adding at least five new stations as well as a series of connections that would link the Las Vegas Monorail to properties on the west side of the Strip, Las Vegas Monorail Co. President Curtis Myles said.

With the new stations, the monorail will link more than 6 million square feet of exhibit and meeting space, including for the first time the Sands Expo and Las Vegas Convention Center, the Mandalay Bay Convention Center and the convention facilities planned at Boyd Gaming’s Echelon Place, enhancing Las Vegas’ role as the convention capital of the country, he said.

Tropicana Las VegasTropicana Hotel Las Vegas real estate new owner Columbia Sussex CEO William Yung claims ownership, he plans on taking a wrecking ball to the sprawling, low-rise buildings that cover many of the site’s 34 acres. In an interview with “Casino Enterprise Management,” Yung announced that “our plans are basically to keep the two Las Vegas hotel Tropicana towers and showroom, and then pretty much get rid of everything else.”

As part of a $2 billion overhaul to the Tropicana, William Yung would erect a 3,000-room Tropicana Las Vegas hotel, another 3,000 rooms branded to “Marriott, Hilton or something like that,” to be followed by a Las Vegas condo tower or a third, 3,000-room hotel. An additional 1.5 million square feet of Las Vegas commercial real estate development would be one-third retail, one-third meeting space and commercial for the remainder.
