Las Vegas McCarran Airport passenger traffic rises in 2006 to 46.2 million.
The increase from 2005 is 4.4 percent with a large growth expected in 2007. There will be more Las Vegas hotel rooms and more residents flying in and out of Vegas. The fourth quarter saw an increase of 7.9 percent increase to 3.5 million from 2005.
The fifth largest airline, American, decreased 11.6 percent to 2.3 million passengers.
Delta Airlines decreased 9.6 percent to 2.4 million people.
Southwest Airlines showed the highest increase at McCarran Airport for 11.3 percent for 13.9 million.
New Orleans and Denver were new destinations from Las Vegas by Southwest at McCarran. Regional and low cost airlines
Low-cost and regional airlines like Southwest led the way at McCarran in 2006.
Last year both Stardust Las Vegas and Lady Luck in downtown closed to make way for re development. There were less rooms for travelers.
