Red Rock Canyon Had 800 Acres Of Red Rock Real Estate On Fire

Red Rock Fire in Red Rock Real EstateRed Rock Canyon National Conservation Area had a fire started by lightning at 11:20 a.m. Wednesday it had charred as many as 800 acres of Red Rock real estate by nightfall and prompted the closure of a section of state Route 159. By nightfall the fire had burned up to 800 acres.

Fire crews requested the closure of Route 159 from about a half mile east of the Red Rock visitors center to Blue Diamond Road because the fire began moving toward the roadway.

The fire, which was about 1 1/2 miles away from the Red Rock visitors center, was about 40 percent contained at 6 p.m. The Red Rock visitors center and the Red Rock Canyon scenic loop were closed shortly after the fire started.

Nevada Ballet Theatre Celebrates 35 Years In Summerlin

Nevada Ballet Theatre In SummerlinNevada Ballet Theatre, Summerlin Las Vegas resident dance company, will celebrate 35 years with its “Ballet Under the Stars,” an outdoor evening performance at The Hills Park in Summerlin Nevada amphitheatre on Sept. 9, at 8 p.m. Summerlin is very culturally rich and quick access to Red Rock Resort Las Vegas and the Red Rock Mountains and Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area. This is all very beautiful and vibrant Red Rock real estate.

The two-hour repertory program, produced by the ballet’s artistic director Bruce Steivel, will feature a variety of short dance vignettes, including a modern story ballet about the early years of Las Vegas’ colorful history. Tickets are $15 for adults and $5 for children 12 and younger with gates opening at 6:30 p.m. Tickets may be purchased at the theater, located at 1651 Inner Circle or by phone at 243-2623.

Summerlin Seals Team Places First In State Swimming Competition

Summerlin SwimmerThe Summerlin Las Vegas Seals placed first in 46 of the 64 events in the 2006 Southern Nevada Recreational All-Stars swim competition, moving the team to first place, and its second consecutive win, in the annual challenge.

The swimming team in Summerlin Las Vegas also placed first in other competitions this year against the city of Las Vegas and the city of North Las Vegas, solidifying an undefeated record this season.

“Our small, young and relatively inexperienced team has grown significantly in four years,” coach Mike Armstrong said of the team’s last-place holding in the competition four years ago.

Red Rock Residences At Red Rock Resort Is Dead

Red Rock CondosRed Rock Residences at Red Rock Resort Las Vegas by Station Casinos has scrapped a Red Rock real estate high-rise condominium development in Summerlin Las Vegas after the company’s partnership with a pair of Las Vegas condo developers dissolved.

Scott Nielson, Station Casinos‘ chief development officer, said Wednesday the company is looking at various alternatives for the five-acre parcel in Summerlin Centre, south of Red Rock Resort Las Vegas and near a planned outdoor shopping mall.

However, he didn’t count the Red Rock Residences condo project out of the picture.

“We need to consider what is the best use for that site,” Nielson said. “We’re not saying the condos won’t be built, but we have to consider all our alternatives for that real estate.”
